When was the last time you played a cassette tape? Was it recently? Or so long ago you can't remember? It was probably over 10 years ago that i last listened to a cassette. (I think I've probably still got some of them somewhere). However, i now don't own a cassette player. Its all mp3, iTunes, CD, Vinyl etc nowadays. Last year apparently cassettes saw an increase of 74%. (Around 129,000). Vinyl though is still selling better than cassettes (just over 13 million albums sold last year) I'll be honest I'm not going to get a tape player just yet. Have you bought a cassette in the last year? Do you think cassettes will make a comeback & be as popular as they once were? Yes, its that time of year again. New year, New Gear. So what did Namm 2017 have in store for us this year? Well here's a few: ROLAND RD2000- No synths this time from Roland but a new stage piano. Its consists of 2 sound engines. The first engine is for the acoustic piano & the second for electric piano. The RD-2000 also contains an usb audio/midi interface. I have tried a few Roland pianos over the years. Hmmmm! Never really liked the key action much. Yes, i would try this stage piano see if the key action for me has improved ELEKTRON DIGITAKT- Looks like another drum machine from Elektron. Seems quite compact. 64mb sample memory, Around 1GB storage, 8 internal audio tracks & 8 midi tracks + more features DAVE SMITH INSTRUMENTS REV 2- Its another synth from Dave Smith. This synth is suppose to be more powerful & affordable than the Prophet 08. Its a 16 voice analog synth. I would like to try this synth. It will be interesting to see the price KO

SENNHEISER are very well known for making headphones, earphones, etc. They are now back with another pair of earphones, this time with surround sound. This could be great if watching a 360 degree video or doing VR.  The earphones also have 2 in-ear microphones which can a record a 3D audio sound (Binaural Audio).  The audio recordings can be played back, using an app on your smart phone.  I do kinda like this idea. As a songwriter, the intro needs to grab the listeners attention. However, you don't always need an intro e.g: 'Hey Jude'-THE BEATLES 'Royals'-LORDE Both those songs start with vocals. A solo vocal can be a very powerful instrument as'A an intro Other songs can start with the chord sequence from the Chorus. e.g: 'Tonight'-LAW (When i wrote this song i came up with the chorus chord sequence first. I think that chord sequence was always going to be the intro as well. Yes, its that time of year again: WINTER NAMM 2017. Already rumours, predictions, teasers etc are circulating the internet. Here's a few rumours, thoughts etc that we may see: SCHECTER- According their website they have already announced their new guitar line-up for 2017 (including few new artist models) IK MULTIMEDIA- Rumour has it they will be taking technology for acoustic guitar players "a major step further" TC ELECTRONIC- After launching 13 pedals this year, they may have something  new for 2017 BLACKSTAR- Will they bring out some new amps?
