Friday 9th September, ROLAND had a online festival. They announced around 30 new products. Here's a few they announced:
- DJ 808- Roland have collaborated with DJ pro SERATO to join an 808 drum machine with a DJ Controller. The drum machine contains sounds from the 808, 606, 909 & 707. Also an onboard sequencer & 2 USB ports to connect other Aira gear smoothly. This does look quite impressive. I do think it will give DJ's more freedom to create different mixes etc.
- SYSTEM 8- This another one of Roland's Plug-out synths. It comes with Jupiter 8 & Juno 106 (due to be released in 2017) plugouts. 49 full size keys, effects, usb, vocoder, arp & step sequencer etc. This does look like a very powerful synth, that i would like to try sometime.
- TB 03, TR 09 & VP 03- Two synths & a drum machine to add to their boutique range. Remember the TB-303 bassline synth? Well, this is a kinda clone. I mean Roland not so long ago brought out the TB-3. A bit like the TR -09. Again Roland bought out the TR-8 which can recreate the 909 drum sounds. Do we need the 303 or 909 recreating again? The boutique range does look good & portable. It will also probably depend on price. Then, we come to the VP-03. This is taken from the String/ vocoder synth VP-330.
I have to say i do kinda like the System 8. The boutique range does look good. Really? I think i would like to see Roland create a brand new synth & not just a re-creation of one of their classic synths.
They also announced Drums, Amps, Pianos etc.
Until next time
