Over the years there has been many duets, some being really good & others, well... didn't really work out. Recently there was a duet between METALLICA & LADY GAGA at the Grammy Awards. I'll be honest i wasn't to sure about this, when i first heard about it. After watching the performance i think Lady Gaga has got a strong powerful voice & it did kinda work.
Here are some other unlikely duets:
- SKIN (SKUNK ANANSIE) & PAVAROTTI- Both very talented singers. In a strange way this duet did work. Skin really can hit those high notes
- LINKIN PARK & JAY Z- I'll be honest i like Linkin Park & i really didn't like the duet they did with Jay-Z. It was a 6-track EP. Honestly for me, i didn't work. I was disappointed with it
- NICK CAVE & KYLIE MINOGUE- Apparently, Nick Cave had wanted to write a song for Kylie for a few years. It wasn't until he wrote: 'Where the wild roses grow' did he feel this would be a good song for Kylie to sing. This song was somewhat different to what she is used to singing. Again, in a strange way i think it did work
- BJORK & PJ HARVEY- In 1994 they did a duet at the Brit Awards, covering the song 'I can't get no satisfaction'. Honestly? I really don't like it at all. Both of them are very talented musicians. Did i get any satisfaction? No. Sorry
- KLF & TAMMY WYNETTE- This was a bit of an unlikely duet. Tammy Wynette, a very well known country artist & KLF, an electronic band. On paper it kinda doesn't look like it would work. In a strange way, it did work. I remember first hearing this duet when i was around 11 or 12 & did like it. I still do in a way
- ELTON JOHN & EMINEM- In 2001 they duetted at the Grammys. At the time people thought Eminem's lyrics were violent, homophobic and misogynistic and there was a protest outside the venue. However, i feel the duet did work
There are many other unlikely duets
Who would you like to see duet?
I think for me it would be: GENESIS P'ORRIDGE & BJORK. That to me would be an interesting duet. Whether it would work i don't know. Both are unique in their own way
Until next time
