NAMM 2018!

Yes, its that time of year again: NAMM 2018

So what did NAMM have in store for us then? Here's a few highlights:


  • KORG PROLOGUE- Good ole Korg are back with a new polyphonic analogue synth, 49 keys,  8-voice
  • ARTURIA MINIBRUTE 2- Monosynth with Modular patchbay 
  • WALDORF STVC STRING SYNTHESIZER AND VOCODER
  • STUDIOLOGIC SL73 (midi controller) & NUMA (Compact piano/organ/synth)
  • IK MULTIMEDIA iRIG STOMP-USB Pedalboard with audio interface
  • UNIVERSAL AUDIO ARROW-  2 x 4 Desktop Audio interface, Thunderbolt, Comes with around 14 UAD plugins 
  • ADAM AUDIO T-SERIES MONITORS- I have to admit I am a fan of ADAM monitors & have used them for years in the studio, its good to see some new monitors brought out for studios on a budget
  • LOGIC 10.4- Free update for existing users, new plugin effects & a new tempo detection
  • ROLAND (Cloud)- TR 808 & 909 available in software format
  • KURZWEIL SP1 (Stage piano)
I think I will have to try out the KORG Prologue sometime 😀 😀, I've looked at Roland cloud (inn not a huge fan of subscription services, £185/ $215.40 a year, (however the more synths etc they add in the cloud them maybe it is reasonably priced)

BARBIE SOUNDTRACK! SUMMER DAYS? NEXG GUITAR!

Hi! Everyone, Hope you are all ok. Welcome back to my music blog. As you may be aware the 'BARBIE' movie was released last month (July 2023). The soundtrack is a recordbreaker. It is the first film soundtrack to have 3 Top 5 songs in the UK charts simultaneously: 'Dance The Night'-DUA LIPA 'What Was I Made For?'- BILLIE EILISH 'Barbie World- NICKI MINAJ, AQUA & ICE SPICE It has 6 songs from the soundtrack in the Top 40  The first film soundtrack to score 3 Top 10 hits simultaneously was 'SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER' (1978). SUMMER DAYS- I know its been a while since i've released anything from the forthcoming 'Miami 1984' EP. THE SPHERE? MORE MERCHANDISE! BREAKING RECORDS?

 Hi! Everyone & welcome back to my blog. A new live entertainment venue opened last month called: THE SPHERE in Las Vegas. The first performer in residency is the band U2. THE SPHERE are planning between 4- 6 residencies a year. You may have seen the LED display around the outside (which looks very spectacular). Lets talk about the state-of-the -art sound-system known as 'Sphere Immersive Sound' (powered by 'Holoplot').  This is the worlds most advanced concert-grade audio system. The venue is 160,000 square foot with around 17,500 seats.  The sphere features: 167,000 amplified loudspeaker drivers 1600 Hotpot loudspeaker modules (around the sphere) 3D Beam Forming Sound etc ('Sphere Immersive Sound' I think was first used for the 'Beacon Theatre' on a smaller scale) This could be the future for live concert venues.
