TOKYO NIGHTS EP!

Hi! Everyone, Hope you are ok. As some of you may or may not know I've been working on a brand new EP called TOKYO NIGHTS.
The idea for the EP came whilst I was working on the collaboration with CODE D ('Fragments'). Before we started the songs itself I asked CODE D what other music he liked, he told me SYNTHWAVE (aka Retrowave or Outrun). I'll be honest  I had never really heard of synthwave music before & went to youtube to listen to some songs. The first song I really liked was 'Sunset'-THE MIDNIGHT, after that I started to like more synthwave music & artists.
Its not just the music I like, its that 80s retro artwork (neon, etc) & also the synthesizers (Roland Juno 106, Roland Juno 60, Korg Polysix, Yamaha DX7 etc). This all inspired me to compose the TOKYO NIGHTS EP.

Here's one of songs from the TOKYO NIGHTS EP:

Hope you enjoy 😀😀😀😀

Will I compose more synth wave music? 😀😀 Stay tuned

Until Next Time

FEATURED ARTIST OF THE WEEK: JELLY CLEAVER

Hi! Everyone, this week's FEATURED ARTIST OF THE WEEK is the very talented  singer-songwriter, musician  & producer JELLY CLEAVER JELLY CLEAVER Please introduce yourself I’m a singer-songwriter, jazz guitarist and producer. I’m also an activist and this really influences my music and the lyrics I write. I love lots of different genres so have quite an eclectic style and like to throw myself into different music scenes. I’m really into the jazz scene and the punk/DIY scene in London at the moment.   How did you get into music? I started playing guitar as soon as I could hold one pretty much because my dad was a guitar teacher, and I’ve always had a really deep connection to music. I’ve tried lots of different aspects of music out though, from leading an African singing and drumming ensemble to starting a rock band. I just love music in all its forms.   What instruments do you play? Guitar’s my first instrument but when I’m reco...

LESS IS MORE

When mixing you need to create space. It's so easy to keep adding different instruments when recording. However, when it comes to mixing you'll probably end up with 2 or more instruments fighting for the same frequency. So what do you do? Well, Firstly it depends on the instruments. Sometimes you may have to be harsh & think: "Do i really need these 2 parts or can i mute one (or even delete)?" This is what i normally do. Now maybe you're thinking: "What about using EQ?" Or "Why not use panning?" Yes i could use these tools. However is this additional sound going to add anything to the mix? Is this part necessary? If not, then im afraid the part either gets muted or deleted. A few days ago i was recording some vocals, for a middle 8 (on a new song). Let's just say i got a bit carried away & ended up recording a few harmony parts too many. I can tell you now that some of those harmony parts will probably be muted. (Why were thos...
