Hello I'm Drew Jarvie, from the Indie Rock Band, The Delerium Trees
2. How did you get into music?
My father, who was an excellent cornet player, gave me a cornet just before my 6th birthday and I've never stopped playing since.
3. What instruments do you play?
I play every brass instrument, my main instrument being cornet/trumpet/flugel (studied brass and piano along with composition at Uni), piano, keyboards and drums.
4. Who are your influences?
Henry Purcell, Alban Berg, Nazareth, Simple Minds, The Blue Nile, Empire of the Sun, Glasvegas, The Avalanches, George Harrison, ELO
5. Tell us about your latest release
Paradise Will Be is an album that deals with domestic, environmental, political and mental health issues. Some of the songs i.e Dark Clouds try to see it through the subjects eyes, others are more optimistic i.e Here Comes The Day. We do have a message and hopefully some people agree. Some of these issues will be expanded on during the next album.
6. Whats your songwriting process?

I just jot down lyrics and scribble down chords so I can write down a piano score later on, I carry manuscript paper everywhere. Here Comes The Day, was written entirely on top of Craigowl Hill overlooking Dundee.
7. Which musician/ artist would you most like to collaborate with & why?
Jeff Lynne, as he is an outstanding songwriter and sees songs on a huge scale but at the same time can write simple catchy little songs. Also he has worked with some of the greatest songwriters with the Travelling Wilburys, especially George Harrison who probably is my favourite solo musician.
