SOUNDWIDE , SUPERBOOTH 2022 & MORE!

 Hi! Everyone, hope you are all ok. Welcome to my new monthly blog. 

In recent weeks: PLUGIN ALLIANCE, BRAINWORX,  IZOTOPE, NATIVE INSTRUMENTS & SOUNDSTACKS  have all teamed up with SOUNDWIDE. I think the idea of SOUNDWIDE is to create an ecosystem of audio creation products. Some of you may have already seen the SOUNDWIDE intro offer. At the moment i'm kinda liking this idea of brands teaming up together. I'll be interested to see what happens in the future with this. 

A few weeks ago SUPERBOOTH 2022 was back. Here's a look at some of the music technology that was announced 

  • OBERHEIM OB-X8- This synth builds on the legacy of 3 of their previous synths (OB-X, OB-Xa & OB-8). This is an all analogue synth.
  • SOMA LABS- TERRA- This looks a bit of an odd synth? Its a microtonal synth which is kinda enclosed within a varnished slab of wood that is cut from a tree trunk. Also has 32 sounds. Its certainly different, lol
  • POLYEND PLAY- Portable midi groovebox & sampler with sequencer etc

Recently as well as mixing & Mastering for clients, i've also been working 2 new eps. The first song (from the upcoming EP): 'Prologue' is available to purchase Bandcamp. I'll be honest i'm still in the writing & recording process. I've written quite a few songs & not sure about all of them. Ive gone back & re-written them etc. I know these EPs have probably taken longer than normal. I'll be honest the past year or so i've been going through some personal stuff.  The plan is to release 2 EPs this year. once again I would to thank you all for kind support & patience 😀😀

Everyone, this week's FEATURED ARTIST OF THE WEEK is the very talented  singer-songwriter, musician  & producer JELLY CLEAVER JELLY CLEAVER Please introduce yourself I’m a singer-songwriter, jazz guitarist and producer. When mixing you need to create space. It's so easy to keep adding different instruments when recording. However, when it comes to mixing you'll probably end up with 2 or more instruments fighting for the same frequency. So what do you do? Well, Firstly it depends on the instruments. Sometimes you may have to be harsh & think: "Do i really need these 2 parts or can i mute one (or even delete)?" This is what i normally do. Now maybe you're thinking: "What about using EQ?" Or "Why not use panning?" Yes i could use these tools. However is this additional sound going to add anything to the mix? Is this part necessary? If not, then im afraid the part either gets muted or deleted. A few days ago i was recording some vocals, for a middle 8 (on a new song).
