WINTER NAMM 2017!

Yes, its that time of year again. New year, New Gear. So what did Namm 2017 have in store for us this year? Well here's a few:

  • ROLAND RD2000- No synths this time from Roland but a new stage piano. Its consists of 2 sound engines. The first engine is for the acoustic piano & the second for electric piano. The RD-2000 also contains an usb audio/midi interface. I have tried a few Roland pianos over the years. Hmmmm! Never really liked the key action much. Yes, i would try this stage piano see if the key action for me has improved

  • ELEKTRON DIGITAKT- Looks like another drum machine from Elektron. Seems quite compact. 64mb sample memory, Around 1GB storage, 8 internal audio tracks & 8 midi tracks + more features

  • DAVE SMITH INSTRUMENTS REV 2- Its another synth from Dave Smith. This synth is suppose to be more powerful & affordable than the Prophet 08. Its a 16 voice analog synth. I would like to try this synth. It will be interesting to see the price

  • KONTROL MASTER- Whats this? It looks a bit like a control for a retro computer games console. 1 Knob Encoder & 10 customised buttons. I'll be honest I'm really not sure about this. I don't think i would use this in the studio much. At $299 it does seem quite expensive for what it does

  • KORG- Korg have returned with a few interesting products to start the year:
  1. GADGET FOR MAC- This has only been available for iOS, soon that will change to MAC as well. It is a music production app that contains 30 gadgets. I think this is a good idea bringing it to mac as well
  2. ARP ODYSSEY- This is the full size limited edition version
  3. KRONOS- Limited edition in Gold
  4. GRANDSTAGE- Looks like a stage piano. At the time of writing this, there are very little details about this. We'll just have to wait & see

  • YAMAHA- Yamaha have returned with new Piano, Drums & acoustic guitar. All look very nice products. Yamaha do make some really nice pianos

  • IBANEZ- I will admit i am a bit of a fan of Ibanez guitars
  1. JEM 30th Anniversary Model- Wow! The colour certainly stands out. You have a choice of 3 colours (Green, Pink & Yellow). This guitar seems to be limited edition. The price is possibly a few thousand dollars/ pounds
  2. GEORGE BENSON- Jazz guitar anyone? 40th Anniversary Signature model

  • PRESONUS STUDIOLIVE SERIES III- This looks a great live mixer. A feature that i do like on mixers is touch-sensitive motorised faders (These look motorised). If you are interested in recording a live band then maybe give this digital mixer a look
Ive only listed a few products of what was announced at Namm 2017. There were plenty more

CUBASE & LOGIC PRO X- BYPASS ALL PLUGINS!

A few weeks ago someone posted in Facebook group about how to Bypass ALL plugins in Cubase 8.5. (As some of you may know i use Cubase 8.5 in the main studio). It's a lot quicker than turning off each individual plugin. Here's how to do this: CUBASE- Go to File  Key Commands  Mixer (Section) Bypass Inserts Type in box a key (e.g. B etc) Assign OK When you press that key all plugins should be bypassed on the mixer LOGIC PRO X- As far as i know at the moment you cannot just press one button/ key & turn all the plugins off simultaneously. You can row by row.  Here's a quick video tutorial : Hope this helps Until next time Law Official Website LW Music Services Twitter Facebook (Law) Facebook (LW Music Services) Youtube Instagram Soundbetter

FEATURED ARTIST OF THE WEEK: JELLY CLEAVER

Hi! Everyone, this week's FEATURED ARTIST OF THE WEEK is the very talented  singer-songwriter, musician  & producer JELLY CLEAVER JELLY CLEAVER Please introduce yourself I’m a singer-songwriter, jazz guitarist and producer. I’m also an activist and this really influences my music and the lyrics I write. I love lots of different genres so have quite an eclectic style and like to throw myself into different music scenes. I’m really into the jazz scene and the punk/DIY scene in London at the moment.   How did you get into music? I started playing guitar as soon as I could hold one pretty much because my dad was a guitar teacher, and I’ve always had a really deep connection to music. I’ve tried lots of different aspects of music out though, from leading an African singing and drumming ensemble to starting a rock band. I just love music in all its forms.   What instruments do you play? Guitar’s my first instrument but when I’m reco...

GRANDE ARTIST?

ARIANA GRANDE is no stranger to the charts. Recently ARIANA managed to get the top 1, 2 & 3 spots on the billboard top 100 charts simultaneously. The last time this happened was in 1964 by THE BEATLES who got all 5 top spots. At the moment 11 songs from her album 'Thank you, Next' album are in the top 40. (The only song from the album that hasn't made the top 40 is 'Make up'). DRAKE nearly managed this when 2 of his songs were at spots 1 & 2 & 4 simultaneously. That is a great achievement for ARIANA Until Next Time Law OFFICIAL WEBSITE LW MUSIC SERVICES  (Mixing & Mastering) TWITTER FACEBOOK (Law) FACEBOOK  (LW Music Services) FACEBOOK (The Solar project) YOUTUBE
